WATER SLIDE DECALS
APPLICATION TIPS

Decals
These are traditional water slide decals made with the highest quality materials for long term durability.  We use hot foil metallics and a precision satin four color process for printing.  Decals are gold with a black outline unless otherwise specified.  Sheet size varies.

Decal Application
Apply only on a clean surface.  Soak the decal in lukewarm water for 5 seconds and let stand for 30 seconds.  Position on surface to be mounted and
slide paper from under the decal.  Smooth with a soft brush being sure to remove any folds or bubbles.

If the decal is applied around volume or tuning controls or areas where rubbing may occur, use a finish coating to prevent damage to the ink.

To apply a decal to an uneven surface, or to blend the decal into the background, use Microscale “Micro-Sol”.  To add a gloss, satin or flat protective coat to the decal use one of the Microscale finishing products available at your local hobby shop.

Some furniture finishes contain chemicals that can damage a decal.  Make a test application on a similar finish before final application.

Our decal products are guaranteed to be free from defects in material and workmanship.  Because of variations in individual installation techniques, no warranty is expressed or implied.  A sufficient number of decals are provided on each sheet to allow for testing before final application.

If a decal you need is not listed, please send a photocopy of the original or a clear photograph with dimensions.  These will be put on file for possible future reproduction.

About MICROSCALE Decal Finishing Products

Microscale decal finishing products are especially formulated to provide professional application results.  Microscale is constantly improving all products with an eye toward better performance and safety.  Since application varies for different surfaces, it is most important that you read the instructions carefully to make sure you are using these products correctly.  In this way you can be assured that you will obtain the best results possible.

Micro Set
Micro Set is a very versatile setting solution that does several things to improve decal application.  Micro Set should be applied to the surface where you will be sliding off the decal.  Micro Set prepares the surface with special wetting agents that cut oils in new paint and converts the adhesive on the back of the decal to a stronger and more lasting one.  Finally, Micro Set slightly softens the decal film to make it more flexible so that it can conform better to the surface.  Better adhesion by the decal prevents tiny air bells from occurring and results in an invisible carrier film, or the so called ”painted on look”.

Micro Sol
Micro Sol setting solution is for irregular surfaces such as curved areas or wrinkle finish paint.  It completely softens the decal allowing it to drape down onto the surface, thus conforming perfectly and without distortion. You can get  the most amazing results in seemingly impossible places because Micro Sol actually makes the decal part of the surface.  Coat Micro Sol on for only a few seconds, then leave it alone.  It does the work.  Do not touch until dry as the decal is very soft at this stage and could be easily damaged.

Micro Coat  -  Gloss,  Satin,  and  Flat
These Micro Coat finishes are more than just a pretty look.  This is one tough finish, and a real breakthrough in a modern formulation of water reducible acrylic resin.  For surfaces  that get a lot of handling this is the answer.  these three finishes will continue to look like new after a great deal of handling.

Micro Coat Clear  gives you a “wet look” shine that replicates new synthetic paint.  It is also the answer for a glossy base necessary for decaling. All the Micro Coat Finishes use the same water clear acrylic resin, which is tough and flexible and adheres strongly to paint and plastic.  It is rated to last at least twenty years under ordinary conditions.

Micro Liquid Decal
Everyone should have Micro Liquid Decal Film who uses decals.  The typical decal scrap box is not the best place to store decals.  Exposed to air, sunlight, and moisture, great swings of temperature or general abuse, and decals will go bad.  Micro Liquid Decal Film solves all of those problems and makes a decal which for whatever reason is bad, work again just like new, and almost immediately.  Of course if you have already put it in water it is too late.  If you have some old decals you really have to use, coat them with Micro Liquid Decal Film to be sure.  If there is any indication that you might have a problem, don't take a chance, you can solve the problem on the spot.  Simply take a small brush and coat the image on the decal you want to use.  Allow to dry for 20 minutes.  Apply the decal as usual.  It's that simple.
