  1. Adaptable if your specs are different

Posted by Unknown on Apr 24th 2017

Many radios from the late 1930's and 1940's use trimmers this exact size. It fit perfectly in my GE L-640. I wanted to replace the broadcast band oscillator trimmer because the old one had plates that had become contaminated and it was causing an excessive amount of drift in the upper parts of the AM band as the radio warmed up. When I first installed this replacement, the stations from 1500 to 1710 took up the entire band and sensitivity was very poor. So, I took the screw and washer out of the old trimmer (the washer was noticeably thinner than the one provided) and installed them in the new housing. Wow, what a difference! I was able to align the band for peak sensitivity from 530 to 1720, and the amount of drifting on the high end of the band was reduced by 80% during the first half hour of operation. Also overall, the band has more sensitivity and selectivity, particularly in the upper end. So, you can make this trimmer fit your application if performance isn't correct out of the box.

  2. Happy in Tennessee !

Was so Happy when my order came. Shipping was much faster than expected, Good Packaging, and Excellent Parts.

Going to use the Variable Caps to assist in Repairing Mica Migration problem in IF Transformers in those Tube Radios made back in the 1940-1950s. Love the sound of the old Radios because they just sound like being Home. I just buy the Radios off E-Bay pretty cheap, clean the Radio up real good, replace the caps, test tubes, test/repair the Radio.

I repaired everybody's tube radio through High School 1958-1961. Worked for Collins Radio near Dallas, Texas from 1966-2004 as Lead Technician. Retired, and moved back to Tennessee and started working on those Radios again. Love Antiques too and this fits me
