COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO ANTIQUE RADIOS
SIXTH EDITION

  About The Sixth Edition.

There were several goals for this sixth edition of The Collector's Guide to Antique Radios. Certainly first and foremost was the updating of any pricing to reflect changes that have occurred over the past three years since the last edition.  The valuation of some of the radios listed has changed very little - perhaps a reflection of the relatively low inflation rate in the overall economy during that time. However, other radios, especially the more rare or unique pieces have seen some meaningful changes in value.

The actual number of distinct antique radio models designed in the United States will never be precisely known. Based upon manufacturers' documentation and advertising, our guess would be at least thirty thousand and perhaps many more. Additional models, flavors, and brands continue to be uncovered by radio enthusiasts. We are also contacted from time to time by individuals who have come across a radio that is not in our Guide and we highly welcome that input. We could readily add many more listings just based on documented models. However, our second goal was to add additional listings based upon ongoing exposure to models and brands that appear to have been produced in a quantity that they may well confront the collector community. To that end, this Guide now has grown to over ten thousand listings.

A third goal was to add more color photo illustrations. This edition has over 1000 color photo illustrations, nearly twice the number of photos as the last edition. Please note that in order to include this increase in photos, radios with photos are not included in the listings themselves but are illustrated in sequential order under a given company. If a model number is not found in the listings, please look for it as a potential illustration. Also, a complete listing of illustrations in sequence and with page numbers is available in Adobe PDF format.
